As of Feb 1st of this year Victoria have banned single use plastic straws and other plastic food service disposable items. Although business have accommodated with paper straws these can disintegrate before you have finished your drink. But using your own straw is fast becoming a trend and it’s here to stay.
Stainless steel straws are easy to clean, store and don’t affect the taste of your drink. You can put them into a small waterproof cosmetic bag to take with you when you are out, run under tap after use and put back into the bag for a proper clean later. Cleaning with the brush and hot soapy water gets rid of any residue. At home you can store them in your cutlery drawer or even display them on your bench for easy use.
Recipe for Café Style Iced Coffee
- Using your coffee machine or instant coffee make 30ml of coffee and put in the fridge for 30 minutes. If you like your coffee strong double shot your machine or add another teaspoon of instant coffee and a little more hot water.
- Instead of coffee you can use hot chocolate or chai powder or even change your iced coffee to an iced mocha/iced dirty chai.
- In a tall glass you can drizzle flavoured syrup/topping around the side and into the mix for that extra indulgence.
- Add ice cubes to the tall glass, followed by the coffee and then the milk of your choice.
- You can add whipped cream, flavoured syrup/topping, ice cream and even sprinkles – whatever makes you drink perfect for you
- Add your stainless steel straw and enjoy
