Here Is How To Organize Your Bathroom

Your bathroom is a great place to start organising. It is one of the smallest rooms yet we use it every single day. So find your cleaning products, get into some comfy clothes, crank up that music and lets get started!

Let’s give that bathroom a big clean first. Remove everything into containers, boxes or even just a bunch of towels. You can sort out as you go or do it after you have cleaned. When cleaning make sure you get as much air into the space through open windows and even a fan. It is recommended to wear a mask but if you don’t have one take breaks every 15 minutes and stop if you feel a headache or lightheaded. You can use one product for everything or multiple products, whatever you are comfortable with. You will need: a cloth, a sponge, a hard brush, a toothbrush and cleaning products. If you have the time clean the cabinets inside and out for that ‘like new’ feeling to your bathroom.

Once the bathroom is cleaned let everything dry or use an old towel to dry surfaces. Now for the fun stuff. Go through all the products you had in the bathroom. Throw out anything out of date, checking expiry dates or the shelf life on make up. Throw out anything you don’t use anymore and can’t be donated. Donate anything (except medication) you don’t want that is unopened with is still within expiry dates. Any old containers you don’t want for the bathroom, consider if you can use them in other rooms. Old towels can be cut up for cleaning cloths or donated to the local dog/cat shelters.

Depending on the size of your bench and your own requirements you may want to consider the following items:

Toothbrush and toothpaste holder -these are great for also holding any skincare or medication tubes used daily

Space for your brush, mouthwash or other large items used daily

With hairdryers/straighteners, if you have the space you can attach a hook to your wall and hang them up. In your shower use a caddy to put all your hair and skin products used in the shower. For the toilet area consider getting a toilet seat cover and a toilet mat for a luxury touch. Adding a reed diffuser also gives a light fragrance for the area.

With your cabinet space you can organize the following items together using containers and cloth bags:
Make up/skin care
Medications
Cleaning products specific for the bathroom if you have the space (otherwise these will go to the laundry)
Additional hair/skin products
Bath products (bath bombs, salts etc).

If you are still having issues with everything fitting in the bathroom, consider getting a cabinet on the wall, or additional shelves. You can also use containers to store additional products in a different location in the house (such as your own wardrobe for ensuite bathrooms or laundry or even the shed if needed).

Now step back, admire all that work you have done and treat yourself with a relaxing bath/shower, some good food or even just a good book.
